Fw: NEARLY 60% OF HEALTH CARE WORKERS SKIP FLUE SHOT: WHAT IS IT THEY KNOW THAT WE DON’T KNOW?

DES MOINES — Operating room nurse Pauline Taylor knows her refusal to get a flu shot is based on faulty logic.

But ever since she got sick after getting a shot a few years ago, she’s sworn off the vaccine.

“I rarely get sick. The only thing I could narrow it down to is that I had gotten this shot,” said Taylor, who works at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. “I know that it’s not a live virus. It just seemed pretty coincidental.”

Such stories frustrate Dr. William Schaffner.

As chairman of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Vanderbilt University, he hears that kind of talk frequently and knows it’s in part to blame for a surprising statistic — nearly 60% of health care workers fail to get a flu shot.

From a Sarajevo War Survivor:
Experiencing horrible things that can happen in a war - death of parents and friends, hunger and malnutrition, endless freezing cold, fear, sniper attacks.
1. Stockpiling helps. but you never no how long trouble will last, so locate near renewable food sources.
2. Living near a well with a manual pump is like being in Eden.
3. After awhile, even gold can lose its luster. But there is no luxury in war quite like toilet paper. Its surplus value is greater than gold's
.4. If you had to go without one utility, lose electricity - it's the easiest to do without (unless you're in a very nice climate with no need for heat.)
5. Canned foods are awesome, especially if their contents are tasty without heating. One of the best things to stockpile is canned gravy - it makes a lot of the dry unappetizing things you find to eat in war somewhat edible. Only needs enough heat to "warm", not to cook. It's cheap too, especially if you buy it in bulk.
6. Bring some books - escapist ones like romance or mysteries become more valuable as the war continues. Sure, it's great to have a lot of survival guides, but you'll figure most of that out on your own anyway - trust me, you'll have a lot of time on your hands.
7. The feeling that you're human can fade pretty fast. I can't tell you how many people I knew who would have traded a much needed meal for just a little bit of toothpaste, rouge, soap or cologne. Not much point in fighting if you have to lose your humanity. These things are morale-builders like nothing else.
8. Slow burning candles and matches, matches, matches

Mobile phones 'cause skin rash

Mobile phones users are developing rashes on their faces and ears caused by an allergic reaction to the nickel on handsets, skin experts warn.

The British Association of Dermatologists said the phenomenon is being seen in people who spend long periods of time on the phone.

Nickel is often found in the handset casing or buttons.

The BAD said women who reacted to nickel in jewellery were at a higher risk of a rash from their phones.

It could even occur on the fingers if you spend a lot of time texting on metal menu buttons
Dr Graham Lowe, British Association of Dermatologists

Nickel allergy is the most common contact allergy in the UK and is thought to affect 30% of the population.

The link to mobile phone handsets was identified in several published case reports of patients with unexplained rashes on their face and ear.

Closer investigation revealed that the reaction was caused by nickel in the mobile phone handsets, where it is often found in the casing or buttons, particularly in the most fashionable models.

Women are particularly prone to "mobile phone dermatitis", as they are more likely to have been previously sensitised to the metal following an allergic reaction to nickel-coated jewellery, the experts say.

Unexplained rashes

The BAD is now advising anyone who develops a rash on their face which might be attributable to prolonged mobile phone use to seek advice from their doctor.

It is warning that many cases may go unreported or untreated, which has prompted the scientists to share their findings.

In addition, a US study published earlier this year tested 22 handsets from popular brands for nickel, and found it in 10 of them.

Dr Lionel Bercovitch, of Brown University, Rhode Island, who was one of the study authors, said: "Nearly half of the phones we spot tested contained some free nickel.

"The menu buttons, decorative logos on the headsets and the metallic frames around the liquid crystal display (LCD) screens were the most common sites."

He added: "Given the widespread use of cell phones, the presence of metal in the exterior casing of these phones and the high prevalence of nickel sensitisation in the population, it is not surprising that cell phones can cause allergic contact dermatitis."

Dr Graham Lowe, from the BAD, said: "The allergy results from frequent skin contact with nickel-containing objects.

"Prolonged or repetitive contact with a nickel-containing phone is more likely to cause a skin reaction in those who are allergic.

"If you have had a previous reaction to a nickel-coated belt-buckle or jewellery, for example, you are at greater risk of reacting to metal phones."

He added: "In mobile phone dermatitis, the rash would typically occur on the cheek or ear, depending on where the metal part of the phone comes into contact with the skin.

"In theory it could even occur on the fingers if you spend a lot of time texting on metal menu buttons.

"It is worth doctors bearing this condition in mind if they see a patient with a rash on the cheek or ear that cannot otherwise be explained."

A spokesman for GSM, the organisation representing mobile phone operators, said many phone models are available that do not use nickel on surfaces.

"Some manufacturers plan to phase out use of nickel on surfaces across their product range.

"Using a case or handsfree kit will minimise contact to surfaces that may contain nickel."

Stun gun manufacturer rolls out devices that promise to “drop everyone in a given area to the ground”

Everyone’s favourite stun gun manufacturer Taser has unveiled it’s latest loving piece of “non lethal” technology, The Taser Shockwave.

The new weapon is significantly different to the Tasers currently used by police in that it has six different electrified charges and is designed to target crowds rather than individuals.

The cartridges are tethered by 25-foot wires, which can be fired from a distance of up to 100 meters in a 20-degree arc. The “probes” on the end of the cartridges can pierce through clothing and skin, emitting 50,000 volts of electricity in the process.

“Full area coverage is provided to instantaneously incapacitate multiple personnel within that region” Taser explains.

“Multiple Shockwave units can be stacked together (like building blocks) either horizontally or vertically in order to extend area coverage or vertically to allow for multiple salvo engagements.” The product description states.

The weapons can also be vehicle mounted or “daisy chained” according to Taser. Clearly it is anticipated that these things will be used on sizable crowds, meaning an increased likelihood of indiscriminate targeting.

Watch a presentation on the Shockwave from Taser:

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=d66_1196255514

The Shockwave isn’t the only new development on Taser’s books either. The Extended-Range Electronic Projectile (XREP) is touted as the first electric shock weapon that can be fired from a normal gun, in this case a 12-gauge shotgun. It delivers a 20-second shock, compared with the default setting five-second shock of a traditional taser X26.

“To maximize incapacitation, the XREP engine incorporates a microprocessor controlled optimal electrode selection technology. Twenty times per second, the XREP engine checks for the optimal electrode connection to maximize the contact spread and achieve greatest incapacitation.” Taser states.

Watch a demonstration:

Both the Taser Shockwave and the XREP are scheduled to go into full production by the end of this year.

Taser has been the subject of much controversy and outrage. One year ago the UN’s Committee Against Torture issued a statement on the TaserX26, which read: “The use of TaserX26 weapons, provoking extreme pain, constituted a form of torture, and that in certain cases it could also cause death, as shown by several reliable studies and by certain cases that had happened after practical use.”

We still await more loving developments from Taser including the much anticipated Taser saucer.

Funny Picture Of The Day

Dow plunges more than 678 to fall below 9,000

NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks plunged in the final hour of trading Thursday, sending the Dow Jones industrial average down more than 675 points, or more than 7 percent, to its lowest level in five years after a major credit ratings agency said it was considering cutting its rating on General Motors Corp.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index also fell more than 7 percent.

The declines came on the anniversary of the closing highs of the Dow and the S&P. The Dow has lost 5,585 points, or 39 percent, since closing at 14,198 a year ago. The S&P 500, meanwhile, is off 655 points, or 42 percent, since recording its high of 1,565.15.

Thursday's sell-off came as Standard & Poor's Ratings Services put GM and its finance affiliate GMAC LLC under review to see if its rating should be cut. GM has been struggling with weak car sales in North America.

The action means there is a 50 percent chance that S&P will lower GM's and GMAC's ratings in the next three months.

S&P also put Ford Motor Co. on credit watch negative. The ratings agency said that GM and Ford have adequate liquidity now, but that could change in 2009.

GM led the Dow lower, falling $2.15, or 31 percent, to $4.76, while Ford fell 58 cents, or 22 percent, to $2.08.

"The story is getting to be like that movie Groundhog Day," said Arthur Hogan, chief market analyst at Jefferies & Co. He pointed to the still-frozen credit markets, and Libor, the bank-to-bank lending rate that remains stubbornly high despite the Fed's recent rate cut.

"Until that starts coming down, you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone getting excited about stocks," Hogan said. "Everything we're seeing his historic. The problem is historic, the solutions are historic, and unfortunately, the sell-off is historic. It's not the kind of history you want to be making."

According to preliminary calculations, the Dow fell 678.91, or 7.3 percent, to 8,579.19. The blue chips hadn't closed below the 9,000 level since the June 30, 2003.

Broader stock indicators also tumbled. The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 75.02, or 7.6 percent, to 909.92, while the Nasdaq composite index fell 95.21, or 5.47 percent, to 1,645.12.

The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies fell 47.37, or 8.67 percent, to 499.20.

A wave of fear about the economy sent stocks lower late in the final two hours of trading after a volatile start to a day in which major indicators like the Dow and the S&P 500 index bobbed up and down. The Nasdaq, with a bevy of tech stocks, spent much of the session higher but eventually as the sell-off intensified. Still, its losses were less severe because of the relatively modest drops in names like Intel Corp. and Microsoft Corp.

On the New York Stock Exchange, declining issues came to nearly 3,000, while fewer than 250 advanced.

The sluggishness in the credit markets that triggered much of the heavy selling in markets around the world since mid-September appeared little changed Thursday following days of efforts by the Federal Reserve and other central banks to resuscitate lending.

Libor, the bank lending benchmark, for three-month dollar loans rose to 4.75 percent from 4.52 percent on Wednesday. That signals that banks remain hesitant to make loans for fear they won't be paid back.

The Fed and other leading central banks this week lowered key interest rates to help unclog the credit markets and promote lending to help the global economy. While a rate cut can take up to a year to work its way through the economy, the move was aimed as a boost to investor sentiment.

"We're stuck in a morass and I think it's going to take quite some time to come out of it," said Stephen Carl, principal and head of equity trading at The Williams Capital Group.

Demand remained high for short-term Treasurys, a refuge for investors willing to trade modest returns to protect their money. The yield on the three-month Treasury bill, which moves opposite its price, fell to 0.51 percent from 0.63 percent late Wednesday. Longer-term debt prices fell, with the yield on the 10-year note rising to 3.77 percent from 3.65 percent late Wednesday.

Investors across markets were mulling a plan being considered by the Bush administration to invest in hobbled U.S. banks as a way to stabilize the financial sector. The $700 billion rescue package signed into law last week allows the Treasury Department to inject fresh capital into financial institutions and obtain ownership shares in return.

Britain rolled out a similar plan, though no U.K. bank has received any investments. In Iceland, the government now has control of the country's three major banks as it struggles to contain the troubles there.

Wall Street is also looking for any effects of short selling now that a three-week ban imposed by regulators has expired. Short selling is a technique in which investors borrow shares in a company from a broker and sell them, hoping to buy them back later at a lower price. Essentially, it's a bet that a stock's price will fall. Short sellers can lose money if they have to repurchase the stock after it has risen.

Some analysts believe the unprecedented ban on short selling -- an effort to bolster investor confidence -- did more harm than good at a time of historic market volatility. They contend that short sellers help the market rally by covering their bets and creating demand for stocks.

"I think the market's way oversold. But I can't stand in the way of this falling knife -- I'd get sliced open," said Phil Orlando, chief equity market strategist at Federated Investors. "Investors are just saying, get me out at any price."

He also said that with the short-selling rule back in play, hedge funds might be shorting again to make up for their forced liquidations.

Volume on the NYSE came to 2.04 billion shares.

In Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 closed down 0.50 percent while the Hang Seng added 3.31 percent. In Europe, Britain's FTSE-100 fell 1.21 percent, Germany's DAX fell 2.53 percent, and France's CAC-40 declined 1.55 percent.

Woman charged with burning husband Nuts.

By ROBERT NAPPER

MANATEE - A Bradenton woman has been arrested on a battery charge after authorities say she poured scalding hot water on her husband's groin while he slept.

Manatee County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Maverna Theresa Turay, 52, at 1:37 a.m. today on a charge of aggravated battery with great bodily harm.
Click here to find out more!

Authorities say while her husband slept, Turay boiled a pot of water and threw the water on his groin, causing second degree burns. The husband ran out of the house screaming, while another relative called 911, the sheriff's report said.

The husband was flown to a burn unit at Tampa General Hospital. Turay did not give a reason for pouring the water on her husband, but said she had been drinking beer, the sheriff's report said. She was being held at the Manatee County jail on $7,500 bond.

Ouch! He must have done something to really piss her off.

Martial Law Coming Soon To America!

1. Martial law
76 up, 6 down love ithate it

The day Martial Law is declared, is the day you wake up and realize that your Constution/bill of Rights/Charter of Rites and Freedoms/etc. is really just about as valuable as that Kleenex you just spunked in... because rites are just privileges, and privileges can be revoked. Your government will do whatever it takes to stay in power, and they got the gunz...

Martial Law can be recognized by the increased presence of men with plexiglass shields and/or sub-machine-guns, a pale green fog that tastes, smells and feels like burning, random acts of hippy clubbing and indiscriminate shooting into crowds.

If your going to "get your loot on" its best to do it during the Preceding state of emergency, because once Martial Law is declared, the party's over. Usually once Martial Law is declared, its best to just stay home, tune into your local state-owned media outlet and do what they say. The punishment for most criminal offenses becomes summary execution, and most of the things you might do out in public become criminal offenses.
Looting = criminal offense = shot on sight
Exercising freedom of speech= criminal offense= disappeared (shot out of sight)
looking like you might be a 'rebel' = criminal offense = a. shot on sight or b. disappeared
On the street after curfew = criminal offense = shot on sight
Looking at the officer the wrong way = criminal offense = shot on sight

If you must go out, try not to wear that 'Rage Against the Machine' tee-shirt, red stars, or clenched-fist logos, as these may attract unwanted bursts of well-aimed fire in your direction.

Remember that meeting you went to back in college? Where the guy at the front was talking about "property is theft" this, and "smash the state" that? Which you attended just so you could meet that cute outspoken Alternachick from your poli-sci class? Well, I hope she put out because thats the reason you have to agents beating on you with a phone book, trying to get a confession out of you... in the washroom of a stadium-turned-detention center. Was she worth it? (tip: just confess, the electrodes are next and a tap to the back of the head hurts less).
"Rites? Didn't you hear son? Its Martial Law! Agent Jonston, hand me those electrodes will you?"

Martial Law, coming to a city near you?

Could it happen, in America? Well, it already did.

In New Orleans, during the disaster, army rode in, not to bring food supplies and water, but to maintain martial law. Instead of taking people out, they herded them in to a stadium, and those that refused to move were shot at and killed. In fact, most of the looting that went on was actually perpetrated by the police state forces.

Many claim that the 9/11 attacks were perpetrated by a cabal of the Illuminati within the US government. More and more, we see evidence of our government spying on us, legislating policies that harm us, and cooperating with evil regimes like China that poison us, our children, and our pets with the products they sell.

This may all look funny and innocent, but in truth it is mind control on a very sophisticated scale. Television pacifies the minds of the viewer, and "programming" like this is very effective in allowing the public to accept the inevitable future reality.

It may only be a cartoon today, but tomorrow it will not be in just Springfield, but in your own town. Beware America, the wily FOX is out to get you once again.

Barack H. Obama: The Unauthorized Biography by Webster G. Tarpley

Description:

Tarpley wrote the 1992 expose of Bush 41, and this book works from a New Deal perspective. Obama is a foundation operative controlled by Brzezinski, Soros, and Wall Street. Obama was picked up by Brzezinski at Columbia in 1981-1983, during Obama's secret lost years. Obama worked for the Gamaliel, Joyce, Woods, and Annenberg foundations. A community organizer is a poverty pimp, a cynical opportunist who exploits suffering people. Obama's foundation strategy is divide and conquer, pitting blacks and against whites, etc., to preserve Wall Street rule. Weatherman terrorist bombers Ayers and Dohrn are Obama's best friends. Rezko, Auchi, and Al-Sammarae typify Obama's cesspool of Chicago graft. Schooled in Nietzsche and Fanon, Obama qualifies as a postmodern fascist. An Obama administration means brutal economic sacrifice to finance Wall Street bailouts, and imperialist confrontation with Russia and China

Not A Good Look Of The Week

Zeitgeist 2 Addendum!

Zeitgeist: Addendum is a 2008 documentary film produced by Peter Joseph. It was premiered at the 5th Annual Artivist's Film Festival in Los Angeles, California on October 2, 2008,[2] and was released free online on October 4, 2008.[3]

Part 1

There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt. - John Adams

[edit] Part 2

[edit] Part 3

Greed and Competition are not the result of immutable human temperament... greed and fear of scarcity are in fact being created and amplified... the direct consequence is that we have to fight with each other in order to survive. - Bernard Lietaer

Part 3 asks for viewers to follow these suggestions:

  1. "Expose the Fed Cartel" by boycotting Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, and Bank of America
  2. "Boycott The News Networks," and to "use and protect the internet."
  3. "Don't ever allow yourself, your family, or anyone you know to ever join the military"
  4. Avoid purchasing from large energy companies
  5. Reject the political system
  6. Join The Zeitgeist Movement

This documentary film is just as good as the first one. Peter joseph really went in.

U.S. Ships 800 Billion "AMEROS" to China; prepares to De-Monetize U.S. Dollar

A chilling report circulating in the Kremlin today states that the US Secretary of the Treasury has informed the China Development Bank that the US has shipped $800 Billion of a new currency called the Amero, which is to be based upon the merging of the economies of The United States, Mexico and Canada into what is termed as The North American Union.

The current American debt obligation to China, currently based on the US Dollar, is now estimated to be the staggering sum of $2.5 Trillion, and which this new Amero will be exchanged for $400 Billion of this debt as the current American currency is set to be devalued by 50 percent before the end of the year.

Virtually unknown to the American people is that their current leader of the US Department of Treasury, Henry M. Paulson, Jr., has been tasked by President Bush to lead the efforts to join the economies of the US, Canada and Mexico and is also the head of the North American Development Bank, the bi-national financial institution established by the United States and Mexico to further the merging of their economies, and the leader of the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC), the organization created by the governments of the United States and Mexico to further the implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

This is important to note as the final provisions of the NAFTA Agreement were implemented on January 1, 2008, leaving only the final merging of the economies of the US, Mexico and Canada into a North American Union to be accomplished, of which we can read:

“President Bush is pursuing a globalist agenda to create a North American Union, effectively erasing our borders with both Mexico and Canada. This was the hidden agenda behind the Bush administration's true open borders policy.

Secretly, the Bush administration is pursuing a policy to expand NAFTA politically, setting the stage for a North American Union designed to encompass the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. What the Bush administration truly wants is the free, unimpeded movement of people across open borders with Mexico and Canada.

President Bush intends to abrogate U.S. sovereignty to the North American Union, a new economic and political entity which the President is quietly forming, much as the European Union has formed.”

It is also interesting to note that American economists have been warning about the replacing of the US Dollar with the Amero, due to pressure from China, for nearly two years, and as we can read in this December, 2006 report titled Analysts: Dollar collapse would result in 'amero', and which says:

As WND reported earlier this week, in an unusual move, the Bush administration is sending virtually the entire economic "A-team" to visit China for a "strategic economic dialogue" in Beijing Thursday and Friday. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke are leading the delegation, along with five other cabinet-level officials, including Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez. Also in the delegation will be Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt, Energy Secretary Sam Bodman, and U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab.

But Chapman doubts the trip will help the Fed to engineer a slow dollar slide.

The Chinese are going to do what the Chinese want to do, not what we want them to do," he said. "I believe the Chinese are going to send Treasury Secretary Paulson and Fed Chairman Bernanke home packing, with little or nothing to show for the trip."

How severe will the coming dollar collapse be?

"People in the U.S. are going to be hit hard," Chapman warned. "In the severe recession we are entering now, Bush will argue that we have to form a North American Union to compete with the Euro."

"Creating the amero," Chapman explained, "will be presented to the American public as the administration's solution for dollar recovery. In the process of creating the amero, the Bush administration just abandons the dollar.”

The prophetic warnings of these American economists are, indeed, coming to pass as during the month of September alone, 10 years worth of gains on US stock markets have been wiped out in their entirety and bank runs are now occurring in the United States for the first time since the days of the Great Depression leading to the failure of 13 banks, some of their largest, and the imminent failure of 117 more forecasted by the US government.

US Treasury Secretary Paulson, however, continues leading the charge attempting to force upon the American people the ‘final peg’ to their own demise by completely bankrupting the United States leaving no other choice but to completely discard the almost totally worthless US Dollar and its replacement with the Amero.

It goes without saying that the American people will greatly resist the replacement of their Dollar, but this cannot be said when tens of millions of them are without jobs and their life savings have become worthless leaving them with no other choice but accept what their own leaders have planned for them all along.

To this growing crisis currently battering the US, and its destruction of the entire Western Economy, Russian Military Analysts state in their reports that the establishment of a North American Union is by no means a foregone conclusion as aligned against it are the combined, and powerful, forces of the United States Military establishment and the State of Israel, both of whom see their demise should this planned merger occur.

This is important to note because both the US Military and Israel are proponents of what is termed as ‘Disaster Capitalism’ which advocates the seemingly contradictory view that ‘shocks’ and ‘crashes’ to populations and economies are quickly followed by long periods of sustained growth and stability.

The phenomena of Disaster Capitalism was first observed during the 2007 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where this ‘puzzling trend’ was discussed and debated at great length, but which none of the participates could dispute after the full reports of the effects of September 11, 2001, in the United States, and other such catastrophic disasters, were fully analyzed.

To the growing Western adherence to the new ideology of Disaster Capitalism, and its dangers, we are further warned by the eminent writer Naomi Klein in her seminal work “The Shock Doctrine: The Rise Of Disaster Capitalism”, and where she states:

The creeping expansion of the disaster capitalism complex into media may prove to be a new kind of corporate synergy, one building on the vertical integration so popular in the nineties. It certainly makes sound business sense. The more panicked our societies become, convinced that there are terrorists lurking in every mosque, the higher the news ratings soar, the more biometric IDs and liquid-explosives-detection devices the complex sells, and the more high-tech fences it builds.

If the dream of the open, borderless “small planet” was the ticket to profits in the nineties, the nightmare of the menacing, fortressed Western continents, under siege from jihadists and illegal immigrants, palys the same role in the new millennium.

The only prospect that threatens the booming disaster economy on which so much wealth depends-from weapons to oil to engineering to surveillance to patented drugs-is the possibility of achieving some measure of climatic stability and geopolitical peace.”

To which of these powerful forces, North American Union or Disaster Capitalism, the American people will ultimately be forced into choosing it is not in our knowing. But, what is in our knowing is that these Americans are woefully ill equipped, on every level imaginable, to either fully understand, or know how to survive, the horrific future being planned for them.

Funny Picture Of The Day

That's a job I could never do!

Minnesota Congresswomen blames blacks for the housing crisis

Even in the extreme right wing of the Republican party, there are some disciples that are more extreme and more right than all the others. One such specimen is Congresswoman Michele Bachman (R-Minnesota).

Many of her wacky comments and political stunts can easily be dismissed. For instance, she has contended that the arctic wildlife really like the Alaskan pipeline and she's said that Democrats want high gas prices so as to force people to move into "inner cities" and "the urban core." She also introduced the
Lightbulb Freedom of Choice Act, a bill to repeal the nationwide phase-out of conventional light bulbs in favor of energy-efficient compact fluorescent lights. The government has no business telling consumers what kind of light bulbs they can buy, Bachmann contends.

She's pro-life, a global warming denier, mother of a brood, evangelical .... hmmm... who does that remind us of? (Heck, slap some of them Kawaski rimless specs on Michele and she'd even look like Sarah "Moosehunter" Palin. Something about those colder climates must produce this strain of womanhood).

Let's not kid ourselves, however. Extremists such as Bachmann are dangerous. Case in point:

During a hearing last week on the financial crisis, Bachmann quoted an article from a right-wing publication pinning the blame for the housing crisis on blacks and other minorities attempting to enter the middle class through home ownership. Bachmann was doing her rubber-stamp thing, amening the likes of Charles Krauthammer, Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Times, and the National Review who have contended that President Clinton's efforts to expand home ownership among minorities through the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) somehow is at fault for all the ills of Wall Street.

In response to Bachmann's racist claims, more than 30 members of the Congressional Black Caucus wrote a letter to Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH), asking if the Republican leadership agrees with Bachmann's assertions. "Shifting the blame for the current economic crisis to laws that allow equal access and opportunities to communities of color is ridiculous," they wrote.

The Center for American Progress's Robert Gordon explains that lenders made bad loans not in an effort to comply with the CRA but simply "to make money." "Most important," he adds, "the lenders subject to CRA have engaged in less, not more, of the most dangerous lending."

McKinney Accuses Government of Slaughtering Prisoners, Dumping Bodies During Katrina

Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney, known for her provocative statements when she was a congresswoman from Georgia, accused the Department of Defense this week of using Hurricane Katrina to cover up the slaughter of 5,000 prisoners.

At a news conference in Oakland, Calif., on Sunday, McKinney claimed the Pentagon authorized the execution of the prisoners with one bullet to the head three years ago and then dumped their bodies in a Louisiana swamp.

McKinney said she heard the story from the mother of a National Guard soldier who said her son was assigned to help dispose of the bodies.

"And these were mostly males and her son was afraid to talk because he had signed a silence agreement," McKinney told the crowd. "So he only complained to his mother. But the data was entered into a Pentagon computer."

McKinney said she verified the story from "insiders" who wanted to remain anonymous.

"I suspect that these are prisoners. ... So this investigation of the whole prison industrial complex is extremely important and it should not end with just a question of the nature of prisons in our country," she said to a captivated audience. "These 5,000 souls also need some justice too."

A Defense Department spokesman dismissed McKinney's accusation.

"The claim is outrageous on the very face of it and doesn't merit any further consideration," said Lt. Col. Les' Melnyk. "It would be inconceivable that 5,000 people would go missing in America without anyone noticing it prior to this."

Psychologists and psychology professors contacted by FOXNews.com wouldn't comment on McKinney's mental condition, but they expressed shock at her assertion.

"Wow! What a conspiracy theory," one professor exclaimed before declining comment and hanging up the phone.

Dr. Celia Ward, a clinical psychologist in Washington, D.C., said she wouldn't speculate on McKinney's state of mind because McKinney heard the story from someone else.

"This sounds like a game of telephone," Ward said, explaining how a rumor can change as it passes from one person to another. "But to take something that has so many questions attached to it and to treat a rumor as fact is the basis for mass distortion. It's really a good example of Swift-boating."

Ward said McKinney could have easily verified the story by checking prison records.

"This is the kind of rumor that warrants fact-checking," she said.

McKinney's presidential campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

A member of the House for 12 years until 2007, McKinney is no stranger to controversy. Shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, she suggested that President Bush knew about the plot in advance but failed to warn Americans because of his father's business interests. Some political analysts say that statement contributed to her defeat in 2002.

After McKinney was re-elected in 2004, she tried to impeach Bush, Vice President Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on charges that they lied and manipulated intelligence to justify the war in Iraq.

McKinney hit a career low point in 2006 when she was accused of striking a Capitol Police officer who grabbed her after she passed a security checkpoint without wearing a congressional lapel pin. She later apologized for the incident. She was defeated in a Democratic primary later that year and left the Democratic Party in 2007. She was nominated in July to run for president on the Green Party ticket. There are 245 other Green Party candidates running for office this fall.
